Living in Heaven on Earth

We truly do not have to die to live in heaven on earth, regardless of what is happening in our lives or in the world. Each moment, we can live in heaven or in anxiety, heaven or anger, heaven or sadness, heaven or judgement (of self or other), heaven or somewhere else.

The kingdom is within!

We may have a hectic day, problems with those we love, unfulfilled dreams, things we would do if we just had the money, unpreferred chores, and a host of other things to tend to, but we can still live in heaven no matter what. Yes, it is possible.

At the same time that we live in heaven, we can also be effective in this world, taking care of all our responsibilities. In fact, we can take care of them better if we approach earth life from the perspective of our heavenly vision.

We can be grounded in heaven and earth simultaneously. We can be complete.

We can take time to sit every day with our angels, teachers, and other higher beings of light that are a part of our spiritual family if we wish. And the more we allow ourselves to receive the love infinitely available to us, the more we experience an increasingly fuller reality of many dimensions. We may even become aware of, or perceive, into realms we previously didn’t know existed.

Living in heaven on earth isn’t that hard to do. But there is one very large barrier.

It does take the desire to do so, and not everybody who says they want to live in heaven really do. We humans can become very, very addicted to our ailments, complaints, judgments, and traumas. We can become addicted to pain and dysfunction, power and prestige, and, well, virtually anything.

Also, due to religious and social conditioning at an early age, we may have fears about living in heaven: Would we lose control? Could we still do whatever we want to? What about unheavenly things? Could we do one of them from time to time and not get booted out? And what if it’s boring to live in heaven? Maybe we should wait until we have to go. Until then, maybe some of us will run as fast as we can in the other direction.
These fears are understandable, considering our culture and times. Until we experience heaven, we don’t know that there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

You may have already known or experienced moments of being in heaven, although you may not have called it that. You touched in on heaven within when you felt perfectly at peace, curious and open, unconcerned about your appearance or worth or performance, complete and eager, perfectly safe and accepted, fearless and free, totally unworried about what anybody thought of you, free of judgement about yourself and others, fully alive and experiencing, not having a single thought in your head to come between you and reality.
In heaven, we  know things in their entirety. Living in heaven is all this and much, much more. The best parts cannot be put into words.

Living in heaven on earth begins with regularly taking a quiet time to just be. Meditation is a side effect of just being. It happens naturally in childhood when we fall into a state of wonder, gazing about us at this mysterious and wonderful place called the world.

There are many ways of fostering the ability to live in heaven on earth. Each one of us discovers a way that suits us best, or maybe we meld together several different tools we find along the way. There are many tools out there that can help us become an adept walker in both worlds.

The tools, though, are like training wheels that need to be discarded once we learn to balance and ride the bike. Then we are free to enjoy the best of both worlds virtually all of the time, or return to balance quickly if we fall.

I am calling it “heaven,” but it can also be called our “natural state” or “home.” And the more often we live in heaven on earth, the easier we make it for others to do so, too, and the more positive influence we have on others.
