It is so pervasive and invasive that many otherwise good and intelligent people fall for the most outrageous of lies. Lies from the corporations to politicians to religious leaders to groups fostering divisive rhetoric at a time when we could all be working together to make wonderful changes and new creations in this world, not only for humanity, but for all the life on this planet.
The first step in activating our truth detector is to truly want the truth.
Too often, we want our group to be right and we feel unsafe if we stray from its parameters. There is within us the knowledge that we cannot survive alone outside of community. If we go against our community, we might be ostracized, condemned, abandoned. It's easier just to go along with our group even if we are uneasy and have our doubts. We want to be liked, we want to please, we want to be accepted by the group. It's especially hard to go against a group composed of our family members. Second, it's hard, but not as hard, to differ with those in our professional or political party or other groups we have become a part of.
The second step is both embodiment and research.
It takes more than research to uncover the truth about something. Fact checking is essential, of course, and should always be done. Does a statement or news item provide you with references? Credits you can follow up on? If it doesn't, it's immediately suspect. I don't know how many people have told me something is true and I discover it was something said by somebody with nothing to back it up. Yet they believed it without question because it fit the adopted viewpoint of their group.
Embodiment means being fully alive here and now in your body. The body is an antenna, a set of filters, a connection to the field where everything is connected. Since our culture has focused on the head and intellect, most of us are disconnected from the neck down. It's like having a multibillion dollar tool that can do so many, many things and we only use the pop out screwdriver. Why has this come about? I refer you to Ingo's Secrets of Power. No time to go into the details right now.
So, here we have this super powerful tool we're not using, and many people don't even know they have it. Generally it's only discovered through great suffering, if one persists and pops through the curtain. Then comes all the learning in how to use it, which requires that all parts of the self grow. For many, it's easier to take the pill that will put them back to sleep. I forget if the pill is red or green---or blue? It's been a long time since I saw that movie, but you know what I mean.
When we're in tune with our gut survival intuition, heart knowing intuition, and clear inner vision, we can not only know the truth of a situation, person, place, or thing, but how to respond appropriately or refrain from responding. Living in this reality is truly a magnificent thing when your truth sense is turned on. Your reality expands manyfold (which may not be a proper word, but I like it).
There is continual learning, which means there is and always will be the possibility of making mistakes, which keeps things interesting. Every mistake we make means there was something we didn't know which now we do. Life unfolds in endless permutations. We never come to the time when we've "seen it all" and certainly not when we "know it all." Only immaturity boasts that confidence.
If you want to hone your truth sense, have a firm intention to do so. Then let go, but keep your eyes open and be ready. You will be led to the system or method or way that is right for your development, or it will find its way to you.
My own path began in 1969 with one teacher, then later another, and so on. Currently I'm enjoying working with Gateway, a program with The Monroe Institute in Virginia. And doing a lot of art, journeying and dreaming, and so forth, as well as taking care of family. Not much time for blogs. I work more often from the inner planes, from an inner network of people from many different groups who are helping expand the consciousness of humanity from the inside out.
Everyone has their inclinations and work to do. Some are activists in the world and many are working multiple jobs in both worlds.
Submitting to whatever takes us to whatever, which may not be where we really want to go. There may be safety in numbers, but not necessarily for lemmings, I've heard. I don't know if they periodically all jump off the cliff or if they only do it under special circumstances. The truth about lemmings is not at the top of my list to explore for veracity at this moment. But there are other things I am drawn to explore, and I will get to them now.
Wishing you all many great adventures in many great dimensions of ever-evolving realities.
