And this definition does ring true with me. It makes sense. The universe is innately, intrinsically self-organizing. It appears made of whole cloth, metaphorically speaking, cut in infinite patterns, dyed in infinite colors, and textured with infinite nuances, but fundamentally of the same "substance." Physical reality makes no sense at all from the perspective of one-dimensional scientific materialism. The idea that all that exists consists of lumps of discrete matter just doesn't explain all the phenomena we experience in our ordinary daily lives, much less those extraordinary experiences we have from time to time. (As if the ordinary wasn't extraordinary!! The ordinary only appears to be un-extraordinary when we have gone unconscious, falling asleep in time, forgetting ourselves.)
Herein I will begin a dialogue with the runes as intelligences. This Blog lays the philosophical foundation for what is coming in the next Blogs. If you don't want a conceptual framework, read no further. Instead, come back in the next few days to read the first dialogue.
The runes as intelligences range from basic elementals to complex strands composing a higher awareness. This is true for each one of us as well; we, as individual entities, are composed of consciousness that ranges from elemental to more organized, and this is not just true of our bodies, but of the rest of us. The "rest of us" refers to our greater reality or extended layers of ourselves that cannot be perceived at the level of what we call "physical" reality. And "physical reality" is a good term. Let's not replace it with anything else. We know that "physical" reality is not really solid, so we need not call it solid. Let's just use it to mean "ordinary daily reality of solid-appearing forms." Or, on second thought, we could use the word "tangible," which works in the remote viewing matrix.
DaBen, like other teachers who are supposed to understand these things, also distinguishes between consciousness and awareness. He does not use the words to refer to the same thing. A gestalt of consciousness may or may not be aware of itself or of other. Consciousness alone is pure light, in one sense; light that has not been programmed, colored, shaped, or textured by intelligence. Beyond light, beyond consciousness, perhaps co-arising and fundamental with consciousness, is intelligence seeking to become aware, as a seed in the dark of the soil seeks the sun.
It is the Great Mystery. The wonder of just being here and looking about oneself and wondering, "Where am I? What is this? What am I? What is that? What is everything?" We are each an awakening of the universe.
The important thing I want to get across as far as communicating with the runes as intelligences is that entities, including you and me, are not fixed. There is not an entity out there called Berkana, for example, that I am contacting. There is, instead, a dynamic gestalt of energy related to the Berkana concept. By calling to it and inviting it to interact with me, I am helping it define itself. And I am redefining myself also in the process.
When many people---a culture---relate to a concept, they help birth awareness in consciousness. This is the way we are all born into more intricate configurations of consciousness with increasing awareness. Another word for awareness is "self-consciousness." We can be conscious, yet not be self-conscious. Empathy requires that consciousness become aware. Without awareness, consciousness has no empathy. We have lots of consciousness on this planet, some of it highly intricate regarding complexity, but much of it low in awareness---with consequent suffering.
Becoming conscious is a step toward becoming aware.
In dialoguing with the runes, I add to the conceptual energy gestalts they are, and they add to the conceptual energy gestalt that I am.
Let me see if I can describe a "conceptual energy gestalt." We know what "to conceive of" means; we know what a conception is. A person or being is conceived by a conceptual energy gestalt that has developed the complexity to conceive, to cause cause conception to occur. Conception can occur on both tangible and intangible realms. Once conception occurs, the idea or being conceived begins to grow. It must be nourished to continue to grow or it will die. It will not come about or manifest its potential; instead, it will be reabsorbed back into the sea of the nonformed. This is true of a relationship, a book idea, a painting, an act, an embryo.
What we give attention and energy to, grows. The child, the relationship, the project thrives. Sometimes we conceive and give birth to something and someone else comes along and takes over. We don't always parent our own offspring, and sometimes we take on the concepts of others and further them along.
Every conception is a joint venture. The energy gestalt is made first through conception, then through nurturing, until a point is reached when complexity triggers awareness. With awareness arises choice. Choice does not really exist until we wake up. Before we wake up, we really are a "product" of the forces that conceived us and nourished us. Since these forces were us, as we were an extension of them, and are still a part of us, there is no blame (we could only blame our unconscious self, which was innocent); there is only a carrying of the torch (symbolized by Kano) into a new future made possible by our waking up. Waking up, we are now responsible for creating something new! For not repeating what we did not like about our experiences in the past. For doing to others what we wish had been done to us.
We continue to grow, become more intricate, add more strands of consciousness, release others ... what I am saying here is that we are each a dynamic, flexible gestalt of strands of consciousness. When we are aware, we build our self with choice. We evolve ourselves consciously. We decide through love to become what we want to be. We participate in our growth. And there is no end to growth or expression of what we really are.
A rune intelligence as a "conceptual energy gestalt" is composed of strands of consciousness just like I (as an entity) am composed of strands of consciousness. In the next Blog, by Sunday evening 5/22/16, will be the first dialogue.
