Akashic readings, remote viewing, and other such activities all use the same mechanism. This mechanism can be described as "detecting and decoding energy."
So, what is "detecting and decoding energy," and how does it work?
Detecting and decoding energy is something you do all the time, every moment, even when you're asleep!
Whenever you perceive something through your senses, you detect and decode energy.
Detecting and decoding energy requires three things: a consciousness, a detecting apparatus, and something to detect.
You direct your consciousness through an apparatus in order to detect stimuli, which you then decode.
Using your physical eyes, you detect and decode energy into visual forms.
Using your ears, you detect and decode energy into sound.
Using your fingers, you detect and decode energy into tactile sensations.
Using your tongue, you detect and decode energy into tastes.
Using your nose, you detect and decode energy into smells.
The eye alone cannot see; it requires consciousness directed through it to detect and decode energy into visual phenomena.
The same goes for the other sensory organs.
If nobody's home, nothing is detected or decoded.
In an akashic reading (or remote viewing), consciousness, directed by the self through the organ of the brain, perceives energy in the field (the akasha) and decodes it into words.
Now, here comes the part science cannot study or confirm, given its current paradigm: you, the self or soul, are at a different level than your bodymind or consciousness. You are outside the system. That's why you can study it objectively. It is this outside-the-system self that uses consciousness to detect and decode through the apparatuses of detecting.
Now that that's settled:
An akashic reader or a remote viewer may experience the decoding of energy as a "direct "knowing" (the information is just there) or she may experience visuals or physical sensations based on the other senses.
For example, she might smell lilacs or wet earth, hear a waterfall or train, taste salt or dusty air, feel a smooth or rough texture of material, or experience herself to be in a specific location, such as the arctic, a mountain, the 18th century, an office, the desert, or whatever.
She (or he) never knows exactly what she will experience beforehand.
Sometimes she detects information in symbolic terms. For example, one time I received the image of a rusty key in a reading, and I "knew" it symbolized the person's regret at having put aside his education. When I spoke this decoding, the person said he had had to go to work early in life to support his parents, but he'd always wanted to go to college. This regret was preventing him from feeling good (both emotionally and physically) and seeking out opportunities in the present, and he didn't even know it! It had become so much a part of his being, he couldn't see it or name it for what it was.
Sometimes we can't do anything about something we don't know is there. Someone looking at us from the outside can see things about us we can't see for ourselves because we are inside our own picture. That is why I am happy I have colleagues I can trade readings with!
Having a counselor or therapist to see what we can't is valuable. We all have our informal confidants---a mother or sister or uncle or grandfather.
But sometimes people need specialized help, and when they do, I advise them to see a psychologist or social worker with expertise and training. Today we have many wonderful techniques and methodologies for working with a wide range of mental and emotional disorders. This is one of the great contributions of the West and mainstream science.
One day, when science incorporates syntropy, and is no longer limited to entropy, we will evolve even further beyond today's wildest dreams.
See my notes on syntropy to find out what it is!
